On February 4, join attorney Katie Garvey from the Environmental Law and Policy Center and Elle Gadient, Delaware County Farmer & Iowa Farmers Union Beginning Farmer Representative, for a discussion of a federal lawsuit aimed at abolishing Swampbuster provisions that protect wetlands on agricultural lands. This program, hosted by LWV Upper Mississippi River River Region, will look at this last bulwark of protection remaining after the Sackett decision gutted wetland protections in the Clean Water Act. Please join the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford for an exciting and informative civic event. Janie Rott, Superintendent of the Water Division for the City of Rockford will kick things off by presenting: "Is Our Water Safe?” She will discuss city water issues, PFA’s and the ongoing lead pipe removal program. This event is organized by our LWVGR Environmental Committee. The water presentation will be followed by a Primary Candidate Meet and Greet where there are eight competitive races on the City of Rockford primary ballot! The public is welcome and refreshments will be provided.
