Who were these politicians and activists\, and what did they accomplish on the long path toward suffrage from the years after the Civil War until the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment?\nJoin us for this very special online presentation in honor of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage\, co-sponsored by Glessner House\, League of Women Voters of Illinois and Friends of Historic Second Church.\nOur speaker will be Rachel Bohlmann\, Curator of Rare Books and Special Collections\, American History and American Studies Librarian\, and Gender Studies Librarian at the Hesburgh Libraries at the University of Notre Dame. She previously served as Director of Public Programs at the Newberry Library.\nThis program is generously funded by a grant from Wintrust. Equal time is given to all candidates to answer each question.\nThe candidates will have two minutes to present an opening statement\, in turn\, alphabetically.\nQuestions will be vetted in advance by the League for appropriateness and relevance from those solicited from League members as well as community members and non-partisan groups.\nThe moderator will ask questions in rotation so that each candidate will have the opportunity to be the first to answer.\nCandidates will have an equal and predetermined amount of time to answer each question. After the questions are completed\, each candidate will have two minutes to provide a closing statement\, in turn\, alphabetically.\nNo surrogates are permitted to participate. An uncontested forum\, that is\, one with only one candidate\, is not permitted.\n\n
