SUMMARY:Fair Voter Maps in Illinois (LWV Palos Orland Area)
DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters of the Palos Orland Area is hosting our next event for voter education: “Fair Voter Maps in Illinois” on Saturday morning\, November 8\, 2025 at 10am.\nJoin us for conversations at 9:30am. At 10 am\, after announcements\, Dr. Kate Donovan\, a member of the Redistricting Data Hub will join our in-person group by Zoom from New York State. Dr. Donovan will explain how and why maps for federal\, state and local districts are created.\nIn Illinois\, a bi-partisan effort to draw fair maps for the state legislative districts has until this spring 2026 to get enough at least 328\,171 signatures to place an amendment to the Illinois Constitution on the ballot. Traditionally\, supporters try to seek double the minimum number of signatures. We will have an opportunity to examine this proposal.\nFree for everyone. This is a hybrid event.
