DESCRIPTION:Please join the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford for a great overview of our immigration system and what to expect from the incoming presidential administration. LWVGR’s Immigration Chair and immigration attorney Sara Dady is presenting.\nWhy is it so hard for people to immigrate “the right way” to the US?\n• US laws for immigration were passed in 1965 and have received no updates in over 30 years.\n• Very few people are eligible to even apply for a green card to the United States.\n• Work visas are limited\, expensive for employers\, and take a long time to process.\n• Immigration courts have a 4 million case backlog and approximately 800 immigration judges.\nAttend our presentation to find out why the immigration system Americans think we have isn’t actually the system we have.
