Elgin (and surrounding communities) Standing Together

In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in our diversity to show our presence in numbers to great to ignore. Elgin Standing Together will take place in solidarity with marches and rallies that are occurring throughout the United States. Elgin Standing Together will send a bold message that our community stands together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We support advocacy that reflects our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights and social justice to join us. This gathering is a further step towards unifying members of the Elgin community, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up.

We will not rest until there is parity and equity for all at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all. We emphasize that all means ALL.

Elgin Standing Together will begin with a gathering at the Hemmens featuring speeches and music. Followed by a walk (weather permitting). Return to Hemmens for closing ceremony
