This Committee will research the City’s Economic Development: what is the funding, criteria, accountability, and decision making, research the City’s various Not-For-Profit organization/group funding: criteria, accountability and decision making. Research to include budgets and the various professional auditor opinions.

Low Voter Turnout Study/Action

Continue the League's core issue of increasing voter turnout. Action may include addressing the issue of civics education in the schools, spreading the message that "YOUR vote makes a difference", and partnering with other organizations to build on their activities on this topic.

Forest Preserve Committee

The Kane County Forest Preserve District Study began with the Study of Potential Gravel Mining in Brunner Forest Preserve in 2010-2012. The follow-up Kane County Forest Preserve District Study expanded the scope to include compliance with the Downstate Forest Preserve Act, public transparency, and the "mission drift" from the District's own mission statement and goals. In 2014-2015, the study focused on monitoring of current policies and practices, a comparison to other Districts, and educating elected officials and voters on the issues. For 2015-2016, the study group will become a standing committee to monitor and report on the Forest Preserve District.
