Name: David Schulz

Position for which you are a candidate: Dundee Township Highway Commissioner

Why are you seeking this position?

Living in unincorporated Dundee myself, for the past 35 years, I know just how important the road district can be. We take pride in knowing that our roads and equipment are some of the best maintained around and that we execute this with minimal tax dollars. I would love nothing better than to continue this high level of service as the next Highway Commissioner.

When I heard the news that the current Highway Commissioner was not going to run for re-election, I immediately thought whom better to take the reins?

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

Having directly worked with the previous 2 Highway Commissioners,  I have gained a great deal of knowledge on the requirements and procedures needed to run the road district, from day to day operations, to the year-long budgeting and project management.  I feel with the knowledge I have gained over the years and my previous supervisory experience, I would be best qualified to represent the taxpayers.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

  1. I would love to reduce our carbon footprint.
Our environment is a very important issue that I feel gets neglected. I believe with research and planning I would  be able to achieve this goal in a cost-effective manner. As the township mechanic, I’ve already taken steps in the past working towards environmentally friendly options.
  1. Keep taxes low.
I have a plan to reduce energy consumption and avoid wasteful spending. I am planning a conservative approach to the annual budgeting of the Road District. I am also staying open minded about developing a plan to share resources with other township departments that could also lower taxpayer’s burden.
  1. Maintain the high level of service and dedication to excellence that Dundee Township Highway Department is recognized for.
