NAME: Clifford Surges
POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:
Kane County Board District (21)
1. Why are you seeking this position?
We are in a unique snapshot in time here in Kane County, specifically the North end and I feel my experience is well suited to be of service right now.
2. What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
I am a life long resident of the Fox Valley, small business owner, and prior Village Trustee. I have served on numerous boards to help better the quality of life in our small, yet important portion of Northern Kane County and currently serve on the District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence and The Destination Dundee Foundation. My experience in both the municipal and private sector to facilitate agreements in the best interest of our residents will be well utilized at the County level. Too much is wasted in litigation when it doesn’t need to. We can better use those resources by focusing and working together.
3. What will be your greatest challenge if elected?
How we embrace change is so very important. The complexion of our area is being redefined and I don’t want our core character to be lost. We will be remembered by how well we manage our assets with open space being just one example. Our quality of life will be largely defined by the services we offer such as safe neighborhoods with a strong judiciary and solid transportation routes. The challenge will be representing my constituents, all of my constituents, in my area with changing demographics.
