NAME: Patricia Schultz

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Village of Carpentersville Trustee

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

I’ve decided to run for another term to see some of the projects completed in our Village including the rehab of two of our major parks. With the opening of the Wal-Mart on the east side there is renewed interest from other businesses to come into the Village and I would like to see the continued revitalization of that area along with the Huntley road project and the possible start of the Old Town Plan. Also this past year was the first year of our special events commission and I would like to continue to work with the committee to expand and create a great schedule of events that our community and families can enjoy and look forward to in the years to come.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have lived in Carpentersville for over 45 years and have served the community in various ways for the last 15 including 8 years on the Village board. I have served on the Audit & Finance Committee and still attend every meeting. I chaired the Carpentersville Improvement Committee and am currently the chair for the Parks and newly formed Special Events Committee.  This has given me a great opportunity to work alongside and strengthen relationships with our residents and village staff for the many projects we have completed together.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Like many communities economic development is always a priority.  With the recent hire of an economic development director and a retail strategy group I am hopeful we will continue to see growth but retaining and bringing new business to a state with failed leadership is a challenge we all face.
