Name: Autumn L. Sheppard
Position for which you are a candidate: Dundee Township Trustee
Why are you seeking this position?
It’s been an honor & privilege following in my grandmother’s footsteps and serving as a township clerk for my local township (Dundee Township) for the past nearly 4 years. However, I feel that it is time for me to transition to a role where I can be a voice for our residents and work with leadership and our board members to continue to improve our township for its residents.
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
I have served on numerous boards and held numerous leadership roles on professional and philanthropic levels for over two decades. More recently and locally, I have been serving as a Trustee & Treasurer for the Carpentersville & Countryside Fire Protection District since 2017. Last year, I began serving on the Board of Directors at the Northern Illinois Alliance of Fire Protection Districts. I have served on my son’s school boards and associations in Naperville and Algonquin. I am a local business owner – owning my own real estate business as well as being co-owner of a local business with my husband.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
I’d like to ensure that we maintain fiscal responsibility so that we continue to have a healthy, balanced budget so that no new taxes need to be imposed on residents and monies are available should any unexpected projects or emergencies arise; work with the County and Pace to improve the Ride In Kane program; maintain our Open Space program, allowing it to be available and enjoyed for generations to come; enhance the 708 Mental Health Program – ensuring that services are being offered to those who need it and continue to offer training to first-responders; and continue to ensure that the General & Emergency Assistance (GA/EA) program is serving qualified residents who require assistance during their time of need.
I will participate in the candidate meet & greet:
