Name: Kelly Thomas
Position for which you are a candidate: Sleepy Hollow Village Board
Why are you seeking this position?
My husband and I have been residents in Sleepy Hollow for 37 years. We raised our son here. As first time, homeowners we thought we would be here for a
few years and move on but we loved it here. We loved what Sleepy Hollow had to offer, we loved the neighborhood and our neighbors, so we never left. I know I can’t please everyone, but I can try to work with the residents and listen to their input and ask for suggestions because change is good within reason. With that being said, I want to ensure for the residents that there is open communication and transparency between the residents and the Sleepy Hollow Board as well as the Sleepy Hollow Employees.
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
I was the Chief of Staff for 15 years for the President and CEO of a Business Unit within a Fortune 100 Company. I then was asked to join the Global Events Team within this company and spent the next 15+ years as a Sr. Global Events Manager dealing with C-Level customers throughout the US. Both of these positions required organization skills, finance knowledge and people skills due to the contact I had domestically and internationally. I retired and began working with the Village Employees and became a Village Board Member.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
I want to continue working with the Village Finance Director, Public Works Director, Village Clerk and Chief of Police to work towards listening to the resident’s requests while still aligning and balancing the village resources and budget. This is a very difficult task to accomplish but if we work as a team and continue an open-door policy which has always been the case even before I became a Village Board Member, I believe it can be done.
I will participate in the candidate meet & greet:
