Position for which you are a candidate: Elgin Council Member
Why are you seeking this position?
I feel that I could make a difference on the Council that would be beneficial to the residents of Elgin. I want to proposed a long term solution to the unhoused the has worked successfully in 140 communities in the United States. I would like to work on helping our downtown area to attract and keep new businesses .
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
42 years as a medical administrator, former property manager Century Oaks Medical and Dental Center for 20 years and owner Beyer Real Estate-specialized in vacation and commercial properties since 1980, President Elect Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club, Co-organizer of Back the Blue, now called American First Responders, Chairperson for Elgin Township Committee on Seniors, Co-organizer of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner – we raised funds to train four nurses and now the fifth nurse is in training at Advocate Sherman Hospital. Also Co- founder of Kane County Medical Mangers and President for ten years. Former president of Fox Valley Newborns in Need, Auxiliary Stanley Hospital. Founder Mothers Against Drunk Drivers at Marengo High School, First female Scout Master in Mc Henry County. Former professional pair adagio ice skater with my brother. Member of TRIAD, Citizen Police Academy of Elgin, Elgin Symphony League, Elgin Womans Club, Fox Valley Beaux Arts and Elgin Hispacic Network. Committee person for Food For Greater Elgin and volunteer at food pantry, I a resident of Elgin since 1994.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
To listen to the residents of Elgin’s issues. I posted in “What’s Happening in Elgin” website and asked the residents what do they think would make Elgin a better city to live in. I would like to address those issues.
I would like to assist in a long term plan for the unhoused in Elgin. I am hopeful that after they have had the opportunity to have a clean bed, clean clothes and a shower on a constant basis that they will have self-worth and strive to be productive in Elgin.
I would like to propose my ideas on making our Riverfront an area were activities would bring more people to our area. I would like our residents to feel safe going downtown to shop, dine and attend events.
