Name: Daniel Wilbrandt

Position for which you are a candidate: West Dundee Village Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

I have lived in West Dundee my entire life, and care about this community. I was raised here and now I am raising my family here. I would be honored to continue to serve as West Dundee Village Trustee. I want to continue to be creative and calculated when it comes to community development but also reverse the course of the increasing financial burden of Village operations on the residents.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I would bring not only my strong desire to do what is best for the Village, but my education and experience in communication and local government law. With that experience, and my career as a state prosecutor and attorney, I have become very comfortable confronting tough problems in order to reach a beneficial result. My communication skills and experience with the Village will continue to allow me to work effectively for the Village residents. I am very organized, and I am a long-term planner. I will continue to use these skills to help the Village, not just for today, but for years to come with long range needs and goals.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

  1. West Dundee has a very low cost of living through Village taxes and fees. However, as always, I will continue to vote AGAINST raising property taxes to pay for unnecessary expenses, as this issue has a direct impact each and every resident. The Village Board members must always remember that our service is for the residents and taxpayers of the Village. With that, we must work to ensure the Village is run efficiently, but at the same time, provide as many benefits to the residents as possible.
  2. For the last number of years, I have been pushing the Village to provide more events and activities for our residents. After the completion of the new Pump House and Riverwalk extension in our downtown, I assembled a downtown events committee. We created a survey to consider resident input, and the committee is now moving forward with a full schedule of family-friendly local events, utilizing our downtown community space (Pump House and Riverwalk). We hope to maintain West Dundee’s “small town” feel and provide great activities for residents.
  3. Our ongoing project at Spring Hill Mall will reshape our Village. We have an amazing opportunity to redesign and rebuild a new project (now as the landowner) that will provide restaurant and retail opportunities, housing, and community spaces to the struggling mall property. We will work to reshape the area and get the best possible development for our residents to enjoy, once completed.

I will participate in the candidate meet & greet:
