Name: Corey Dixon

Position for which you are a candidate: Elgin Council Member

Why are you seeking this position?

I’m seeking re-election to continue to fight for a city that will make my fellow Elginites proud! Keeping & continuing to build a safer community that’s responsive to all of the needs of our residents is my top priority; as well transparency, accountability, financial responsibility and addressing homelessness.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have lived a life service by giving back to the very community that raised me. I serve on numerous boards in our city that touches everything from education, food insecurities, health care and housing. In addition to that, I volunteer additional time building programs that impact the youth through serving as a Deacon at my church. I also work for the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, where I serve in the role of Sr. Asst. Director of Diversion & Re-entry Programs. I, along with my team, deliver and manage rehabilitation programs inside of the jail and out in the community. I have a Bachelors in Business Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration of government. I have completed leadership programs through School District U-46, Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce and Northwestern University.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

Helping Elgin become the premiere destination city in all of Illinois, replacing led pipes throughout the city, attract more businesses & entrepreneurs, addressing homelessness and long-term financial stability.

I will participate in the candidate meet & greet:
