Name: Brenda Rodgers

Position for which you are a candidate: Kane County Recorder

Why are you seeking this position?

I have been a realtor for over 30 years, and my experience makes me the perfect candidate to lead the Recorder’s office. While door-knocking, I am told by many of our residents that they need to be made aware of the services that the office has to offer. For instance, Property Watch was posted on the Recorder’s website on March 21, 2016, over seven years ago, but most people I have encountered are unaware. The distant warrant scam was posted on May 10, 2019, over four years ago, but many people are unaware of it. Those elected should spend time educating and listening to those who elected them. We are in a time where our residents need accountability more than comfortability, and I can provide that. My record shows that I have a heart and a desire to inform, help, listen, and empower our residents. Therefore, I urge you to elect Brenda Rodgers as your next Kane County Recorder.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have gained extensive work experience that has equipped me with the necessary skills to lead the Recorder’s office. My career journey began with a summer job at the Elgin Unemployment Office. The skills I acquired there proved valuable for my subsequent roles in Motorola’s accounting department and First Card as a bill collector. I have been a realtor for the past thirty years, and my experience in this field has further honed my skills. Additionally, I have worked as a substitute teacher.

I am proud to hold the highest real estate license, which enables me to own and manage an office. After putting my daughter through college, I returned to school to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Management and Leadership from Judson University.

As a successful realtor, I have ranked among the top 10% nationwide. I have also contributed to creating a mentorship program for new realtors and conducted research to assist homeowners facing foreclosure. Furthermore, I have excelled as a volunteer, increasing crowds from 3,000 to 15,000 people.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

As I interact with the county’s residents, I have noticed that many of them need to be made aware of the range of services offered by the Recorder’s office. Once elected as the next Recorder, I would prioritize informing our residents and military veterans about the services provided by the office, and ensure that there is no cost involved in availing those services. I have observed that the Recorder’s office only accepts cash and checks as payment, as stated on their website. Let’s prioritize the convenience of the users of the Recorder’s office by taking credit and debit cards as well, even if it means charging a fee. Other Recorders in Illinois already accept credit cards, and we should follow suit for the benefit of our users.
