Name: David Haas

Position for which you are a candidate: Village of West Dundee Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

I am seeking the village trustee position to deepen my commitment to West Dundee. This is the place where I live and choose to raise a family with my wife, Micaela, and our two children. Our village has a tremendous amount of good character. I’d like to use my expertise and energy to perform in an integral role for continued development, greater public and private partnerships and the safety of West Dundee. I want to help my neighbors see their property values grow due to the great care we take of this village, expanding educational opportunities and useful businesses in town. Our good people with good energy attract good businesses.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I am a small business owner and serial volunteer. My business is growing-in revenue and number of employees. Every day, I operate with a budget and finite resources to ensure our team members can support their family. I work tirelessly to better the places where I am.

I am a volunteer for Dundee Highlands Elementary School and on the DHES PTC board (since 2019), a volunteer soccer coach for the Dundee Township Park District (since 2020) and regular supporter of local business (since 2008)! I have a lot of energy to give West Dundee. My career is rooted in sales, marketing and great customer service. I have been trained by the best, starting in Walt Disney World, then Marriott International. Other business experience includes the nonprofit world (NIU Foundation and NIU Alumni Association), on an international board (IACC) and as an emcee and auctioneer for dozens of nonprofit organizations.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

  1. Safety on state 72/Main. I suggest we work with IDOT and leverage state funds, which allows tax dollars for other uses.
  2. Public-private partnerships that continues to develop the village
  3. Learning from the tenured trustees to continue the plans and work in progress with a steady, professional economic outlook.
  4. Make a difference; expanding village communication, increasing awareness of the great work at hand.
