Name: Stephen J Fiorentino

Position for which you are a candidate: School District U-300 Board

Why are you seeking this position?

I believe District 300 is moving in a good direction and we are seeing positive results in many assessments and surveys.  I am not running for re-election for a particular issue, however, I do believe strong and steady leadership is needed and I am a candidate that can absolutely bring proven and solid leadership.  I am excited about the recent and updated strategic plan and believe we will continue to make positive progress in teaching and learning.  In recent years, there is an increased divide within our community.  When some issues became emotional, I did my best to deflect any blame placed on our educators and staff and I am optimistic there will be an increased focus on community and staff engagement. I will remain committed and supportive of these efforts.  A seamless transition of our superintendents over the next 18 months is critical.  I am committed to offering support and guidance during this transition.  The experiences I have will be critical for our board and the school district in this transition.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

A critical component of my skill set draws from my robust and diverse leadership background in multiple industries.  I have been actively committed to great deal of board work with several organizations and have multiple successful terms on CUSD 300.  I have a desire and willingness for a high level of communication and collaboration.  I work hard at bringing my diverse background (see BIO) to board work.  As noted on my biography, I have served/currently serve on several boards which enhances insight into many issues facing our educational system.  My past operational and finance experience has allowed me to bring successful and fiscally responsible ideas to committee work.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

Recruitment and Retention of High Performing and Diverse Staff to address the Educator and staffing shortage

Smooth and Effective Superintendent transition

Increased Community Communication and Engagement  to continue to rebuild trust among all interested parties

Will you be attending the Candidate Night?  No
