Name: David Leclercq Sr
Position for which you are a candidate: Village of Gilberts Trustee
Why are you seeking this position?
To make our village a place on the map!
We need more tax base, increase in public safety, not only our police department, which is overworked, and undermanned! Also, our fire district that we pay thousands of dollars for, they are getting busier, and busier. They’re overworked, and undermanned also.
Additionally, we need to stop outsourcing our public works department, and add workers to public works. They’re overworked, and undermanned also. This village is being jumped over by businesses and realtors, and they’re are going to pingree grove, and hampshire or elgin. We need to act to bring good business, and if we need to rezone things, then we rezone them.
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
Since 2010 have been involved with the village of Gilberts. Starting as a planning commission board. I then ran for village trustee in 2013, served from 2013 to 2017. I took a break due to a injury for a few years, but i eventually became precinct committee person for rutland township from 2019-2021. In 2021 I ran, and was elected to the village board for my second term.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
My priorities will continue, even if not elected. With that being said, I will continue to assist getting our police department up to proper manning, and bringing more businesses to our community, and more transparency within our village. We went from 1200 residents in 2005 – almost 8k in 2020. More access for people to attend board meetings.
We need greater tax base to reduce our property taxes. Additionally, we need better amenities in our village. i.e. Recreation center, community pool, closer township pools, library, etc.
