Name: Andrew Sauder
Position for which you are a candidate: Village of East Dundee Trustee
Why are you seeking this position?
My goal is to bring an unbiased resident perspective that represents neighbors, residents, and businesses in our village.
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
I design and art direct teams to create functional and beautiful products for a living and see this as something similar. I enjoy working as a team on solving problems and creating or improving complex systems. I’m not offended by harsh critiques and value the best ideas over ego or influence. I’ve been a resident for over a decade and am very familiar with the Village since my wife used to be a reporter covering village news for many years.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
All villages have a tough challenge of funding their police pension funds. I’d like to push for creative solutions to that problem that don’t involve putting all of that burden on property taxes (as some have suggested). Our village’s water supply improvements need attention to ensure safe and clean delivery. We also have a lot of opportunities to enhance the downtown and riverfront to create an even better experience and unique sense of place.
Will you be attending the Candidate Night? Yes
