Why are you seeking this position?
I want to be a part of the leadership that guides this invaluable community resource. while serving as a good steward of the tax dollars that makes the operation of Gail Borden library possible. This library plays an important role in supporting our community’s education and literacy. It provides meaningful and fun activities through its diverse programs, -all at no cost- for every resident in our community.
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
As a small business owner, wife, mother, former educator, and community volunteer I have a lot of business and life experiences that are easily transferable to a leadership role of a library trustee. No one knows everything, but being a team player and a open minded to others points of views are the basic building blocks I have relied on my entire adult life to works with others towards common goals. A trustee, like a business owner, must be an advocate, work cooperatively with all the community stakeholders and communicate openly and honestly.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
My priority is to serve as a passionate advocate wherever and however I can to ensure the continued vitality and flexibility of this library. I will work in harmony with the other trustees to ensure the financial and moral support that is needed to continue the library’s extraordinary accomplishments. this library runs like a finely tuned instrument, and I will work to make sure that continues. I want this library to continue to provide extraordinary events that impact the entire community; like coordinating the Census every 10 years, and continue to bring world-class programs and exciting events like kids talking to astronauts while orbiting overhead in the International Space Station.
