Name: Cody Holt

Position for which you are a candidate: Kane County Board District 19

Why are you seeking this position?

I never thought I would seek elected office again after serving on the U-46 School Board. But after seeing what is happening in our country, state and county – I could no longer sit by as a spectator. The people of Kane pay some of the highest property taxes in the nation, they pay roughly 82 cents per gallon in total taxes at the gas pump, crime is on the rise due to lax-on-crime prosecutors, inflation caused by Joe Biden is at a 40 year high, and Kane County Democrats are pushing for more taxes – including a 15% property tax hike. It’s time to say; “Enough is enough!” and help the people take back control of their county government.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

The only legal qualifications that matter is the fact I am over 18 years old, live in the county board district and am registered to vote. However, my experience as a U-46 School Board Member shows that I am willing to stand up for my principals. I always have supported putting parents, students and educators before political activists and divisive curriculum. I proudly voted against every property tax increase and even helped get U-46 a charter school – allowing parents the opportunity to leave their failing public school.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

End the Kane County Gas Tax. Institute two annual sales tax holidays to give inflation relief to families and a boost to local businesses. Improve Tyrrell and Randall Roads. Stop any new sales or property tax increases. Prevent a semi-truck parking lot development in Gilberts at the Intra-Sport property which could house up to 800 trucks per day.
