Name: Connie Cain

Position for which you are a candidate: Illinois Representative District 66

Why are you seeking this position?

I am running because I think I can make a difference in Illinois. I am not a politician I am an accountant. My background as a CPA and expert on the Illinois pension system puts me in a unique position to help lead the legislature down a proper path toward fiscal wellness.

I also understand what public service means. Until recently, I worked for the Illinois Department of Employment Security until I was told that my candidacy conflicted with my job. I was given a choice to either quit the race or resign from my job. I am now a full-time candidate and am happy with my decision. I served my country in the United States Army, and now I am ready to serve the people of the 66th District and the people of Illinois.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

As stated, I am a Certified Public Accountant. I have worked in a state job, and I have followed state government’s policy decisions for several years. I think we need more people in government with professional backgrounds other than just lifetime politicians or lawyers.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

My highest priority will be to bring fiscal sanity to Illinois government. We are many times distracted by other more high-profile issues, but our financial condition in Illinois is so bad that it has the potential to bring us all down.

If Illinois does not meet its financial obligations, it can’t file for bankruptcy. The state will institute draconian taxes that can be avoided with a focused attempt to fix the problem.

I will also vote to repeal the so-called Safe T Act.
