Name: Franklin F. Ramirez
Position for which you are a candidate: Kane County Board, District 17
Why are you seeking this position?
To better represent the district. Our current elected official for years has been in office but rarely seen or heard by her constituents. I want to make sure that the people’s voices are heard within District 17. When we read in the newspaper that another scandal is happening at the County, I want my elected official to let me know that everything will be ok and that they are taking the proper measures to address the situation. Political apathy happens as a community member and as an elected official – I want to end that cycle.
What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
For the past 25 years, I have followed what is happening locally, within the county and within the State in great detail. We have cable news that covers national politics. Between 2017-2021, I was elected Elgin Township Supervisor and worked with many county offices to educate on what Township government does but also consult with other elected officials and staff as to how township and county governments overlap. I understand the tax code and the importance of levying or not levying new taxes but to a greater extent, I understand that elected officials have a responsibly to spend OUR tax dollars wisely.
What will be your highest priorities if elected?
Continually be available to the district by phone, email, newsletter, and in-person to name a few. To help others understand the importance of local government and urge them to participate at a level they feel comfortable doing so. To make sure that the County is fiscally sound while making sure that provide services to those organizations and people that need it the most. Ultimately, be the voice of District 17 to the Kane County Board. Bring back statesmanship and tamper down the political divide.
