Name: Ed Guerra

Position for which you are a candidate: Elgin Township Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

I am seeking the position of Elgin Township Trustee because I enjoy serving the community and I would like the opportunity to ensure that the needs and concerns of residents are reflected and remain a priority for the Board and Supervisor.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I was first elected as an Elgin Township Trustee in 2017 and I have four years of experience in the position I am currently seeking. I have served as a leader in my union local and I currently serve on a community board in Elgin. I was born and raised in Elgin, so having grown up in the community also provides an insight and different perspective which allows me to understand and share the same concerns many residents have. I have the skills that enable me to collaborate with others, to set objectives and move past different viewpoints to reach common ground. I am a graduate from Elgin Community College, and I have a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

My highest priorities if re-elected are to ensure that the concerns and needs of all residents are taken into consideration by the board, that transparency in government is adhered to, that taxpayer money is used sensibly and that social services are funded properly by the township.
