Name: Brenda Rodgers

Position for which you are a candidate: Elgin Township Supervisor

Why are you seeking this position?

To put the help back in the hands of our residents who may need general or emergency assistance or any of the other services the office provides.  To make sure taxpayers money is not spent on late fees, penalties and interest by paying the bills on time. I will follow up with vendors that want to do business with the township and will not allow deceiving letters to be mailed to our residents that I did not check. Customer Service will be a top priority.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I am a former elected official in Elgin, I have brought jobs to our community, kept a major retailer in the community,  held back to school drives, I have volunteered with many of our non for profits. As a realtor I talk to people from every walk of life, from the business owner, to the person who receives public assistance and I get to hear their concerns and needs on a daily bases. I often have people call me seeking information on social service issues. As I talk to our residents I often hear one or two of the following comments from them. ” They do not help anyone over there or they do not know the services that is available at the township” and I want to change that perception in our community.

What will be your highest priorities if elected?

Awareness making sure our residents know the services that is available and customer service. I would like to expand programs for our seniors. Transparency making sure the taxpayers bills are paid on time and we are not paying late fees, penalties and interest as we have under the current supervisor. If there is a due date problem on the bills, I would reach out to the creditors/contractors and get the due date change, if possible, so we can pay them on time.
