LWVUS United Nations
The LWVUS United Nations Observers were instrumental in organizing a side event at the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63). The event was called “From Critical Mass to Parity: Women in Decision-Making DO Make a Difference!”
As with any successful project, it took partnerships to make it happen. Our host, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago and our co-sponsors including the Permanent Missions of Albania, Canada and Fiji, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, UNWomen, PPSEAWA, ICJW, NGO CSW/NY and FAWCO all worked with us in creating an event that was well attended, energetic and full of good practices. We live streamed it on Facebook and created a YouTube video.

he lack of civil discourse is an impediment to good government and having candidates run for office. Let’s do something about it!
There’s been a request to have more information regarding the LWVUS UN History and current work to share with local and state Leagues. Here’s a 10 minute video done on the occasion of the UN’s 70th Anniversary in 2015. We will be sharing more as it becomes available including the United Nation’s “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) and the LWV “Impact on Issues,” which are a perfect match together!
