Name: Louis D Hacker

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Gilberts Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

I have lived in the Village of Gilberts for 29 years, and I have served as a Trustee for the past eight years. I have watched the Village grow from nearly 1000 to a little over eight times that many. An increase in population of that magnitude requires long term planning as well as day to day management of critical services especially in the areas of waste water treatment, potable water, road maintenance, and snow removal. My previous managerial background will help me make positive contributions to the Village Board.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I retired in 2006 as the Information Resource Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration. I managed a large organization of 78 employees over eight states and developed the skills necessary to run that organization by soliciting all available input and considering that input when selecting the best course of action. I have been a voice for fiscal restraint and responsible spending during my entire time of service on the the Village Board. I worked my way into this position by first serving on the Village Planning Commission. I think it is important for Board candidates to become involved in the community before running for this office.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

The new Conservancy Development, of over 900 homes will dramatically increase the size of Gilberts. We must insure that upgrades to the Village Water Treatment and Waste Water facilities are installed in accordance with engineering timeline recommendations. Additionally, we must continue our efforts to expand our non-residential tax base. These users pay taxes without impacting schools and parks. They help offset costs that would otherwise be placed on residents.

Will you attend the March 13th Gilberts Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
