Name: Nancy Zettler

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

School District 300

Why are you seeking this position?

I have been involved in supporting D300 since my husband and I moved our family to Algonquin in 1999. I want to continue that support by serving on the board.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have spent the past two decades advocating for public education and area property taxpayers. In 2006 I co-chaired Advance 300, a community group tasked with passing two referenda in support of CUSD 300 in a time where the district was struggling financially to provide quality education to our kids. This included an Ed Fund rate increase to hire teachers and strengthen the curriculum and a reissue of construction bonds to build desperately needed new schools and additions to existing school to get kids literally out of trailers and storage closets and into appropriate classrooms. In 2011, as Chair of Advance 300, I worked with district officials to stop the renewal of the Sears EDA in Hoffman Estates, saving millions of dollars per year.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Fair school funding that assures quality education for our kids but does not overburden us as taxpayers continues to be one of the largest challenges presented to all Illinois schools districts, including D300.

Will you attend the March 19th Dundee Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
