Name: Daniel Killian

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Rutland-Dundee Fire Protection District

Why are you seeking this position?

I’m running for re-election to continue the work that has been put in place since my election in 2017. As the current Treasurer of the Rutland Fire Protection District board I have been part of a very effective team who have been able to increase the firefighters pay to be more comparable to other fire departments, provide the firefighters with health insurance and are currently working on the consolidation of neighboring departments for better use of resources. And, as a resident of the Village of Gilberts, and a West Dundee firefighter/paramedic, I’m fully invested in making sure that the Rutland Fire Protection District has the proper equipment, manning and training to provide the best quality service for the community.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

With 18 years of fire and EMS experience, most recently with the West Dundee Fire Department, I feel that I’m fully qualified to serve and support the community of Gilberts/Sleepy Hollow. I am currently responsible for daily operations and maintenance of fire stations and equipment. I also oversee emergency responses and provider planning and concept of operations for responses to major incidents and fires in our communities. This fire management experience along with my experience as a current board member gives me a solid foundation and understanding of what it takes to provide quality fire protection services while being fiscally responsible.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

My ability to take an unbiased approach to the consolidated efforts between the West Dundee and Rutland Fire Departments given my roles in both departments.

Will you attend the March 12th Dundee Candidate Forum? No, I am not able to attend
