Name: Joe Stevens

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

School District 300

Why are you seeking this position?

I have served on the school board since 2006 and have been focused on student well being and finance. I have risen to the position of Chair of the Finance Committee and believe my understanding of school finance and state funding is an asset. It is not something you learn overnight and I have worked on it since 2006. My goal is no referendums and stable funding.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

Other than my years of experience being a school board member, I was an executive in health care and the business world for my working career and now am a consultant teaching consulting companies leadership training. I am comfortable in any environment and enjoy interacting with students as well as teachers, administrators and the general public.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Maintaining the programs we have going now, (check our the 2018 year in review on YouTube or our www.d300.org website) which have really been excellent, and focuses on placing the help where a child needs it. The challenge is to maintain these programs while not increasing taxes and stabilize funding. In Illinois that is a particular challenge. The state is not meeting their financial responsibility to the schools in Illinois and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Will you attend the March 19th Dundee Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
