Name: David Kaptain

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Elgin Mayor

Why are you seeking this position?

I believe I can continue to contribute to making Elgin a city of choice for businesses and individuals. We have made great strides the past few years but must work to ensure our efforts are sustainable. If Elgin is to be truly a sustainable city we must be inclusive of all residents and provide an attractive environment for business, the arts, recreation and education.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have served this community for almost 50 years as an employee, volunteer and an elected official. I served on the Planning commission for 6 years, as a councilmember for 6 years and currently as Mayor for 8 years.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

The last few years has seen Elgin become a welcoming city that is experiencing rapid growth and discovering new challenges. The success of our city also brings responsibilities to make certain all residents have an opportunity to participate and enjoy the benefits Elgin brings. It is the responsibility of the Mayor to help our residents meet their expectations. I will work hard to meet the challenges that are part of being a growing city

Will you attend the March 9th Elgin Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
