Elgin City Council

Why are you seeking this position?

I am seeking this position to use the experiences I have gained over the years to enhance the City Council. My work on Planning and Zoning gives me the backround and experience to be a contributing member on the council day one. I think this is especially important in the 2 year term race to make the most of the remaining time left on that seat. I have always been engaged in the community and being on City Council will give me a larger platform to work from for all of Elgin.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

Planning and Zoning Commission- Commissioner since 2015 Elgin Township Committee on Seniors- committee member Former Downtown Neighborhood Board Member- (Treasurer) Southwest Area Neighbors Association member Izaak Walton League member Registered Nurse for over 22 years. Eleven of those years in Emergency Nursing and I am currently working as a school nurse in U-46. Commercil Property owner in Downtown Elgin- 176 East Chicago St- Responsible for adaptive reuse of former Elgin Savings and Loan. My husband and I developed the project design and financed it with our own capital.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Maintaining a balanced budget without property tax increases to provide core services to the citizens of Elgin.
