Name: Anthony Ortiz

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Elgin City Council

Why are you seeking this position?

I am running for Elgin City Council, Because there is no representation for our youth. Our Youth is getting shorted on the city budget. There are is only $50,000 dollars funded for the 2019 Budget to the Youth Sports Fund and most of that money is going to bring outdated parks to standards. Im also, running to bring more representation for our hispanic community.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I bring tested leadership from the toughest environments on Earth. I have been a leader while in the Marine Corps and never let my Marines down and ALWAYS put their well-being and morale first. Which is what I will continue to do while on Elgin City Council. This job is not for a person that wants individual success, but for a person that wants to better their community and has the leadership to bring change. Which I believe I have.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

My greatest challenge will be to persuade my fellow council members to allot more money than the $50,000 to our youth, that goes to more than just bringing city parks up to standards.

Will you attend the March 9th Elgin Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
