Name: Julie Fox

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

West Dundee Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

I am seeking this position to help ensure that West Dundee residents and business owners have a voice on the board. I will do my part to help maintain the friendly small-town atmosphere, improve the business base, and ensure that West Dundee is an attractive, friendly town where businesses and individuals will want to settle and remain.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

In 2001 I won election to the Dundee Township Library District (now the Fox River Valley Public Library District) Board and was subsequently re-elected in 2005 for an additional term. While a member of the Board, I served on the Budget Committee and the Operations Committee from 2000 to 2005, and served as Treasurer from 2003 to 2005. I enjoyed a good working relationship during that time with fellow board members and library staff. In addition to my experience in the public sector, I am also a Certified Public Accountant and have over 25 years of experience in managing small and medium-sized businesses.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

The biggest challenge for West Dundee board members is to attract new businesses and residents to our town despite high taxes. Board members have worked, are working, and will need to continue to work on fully occupying Spring Hill Mall and reducing the number of empty storefronts in town. My own biggest challenge will likely be convincing other board members to reduce restrictive zoning laws on businesses and residents in order to help us achieve these goals.

Will you attend the March 14th West Dundee Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
