Why are you seeking this position?

I am seeking the position for the U-46 School Board Member because I am committed to education, children, teachers, parents and the community. I have spent 30 years in the field of education, and I am dedicated to education and the well-being of all children. I want to give back to my community and bring my educational, business experience and knowledge to the School Board. I am committed to serving the district that believes in a quality education for all students. I believe my unique experience and education will serve as an asset on the U-46 School Board and to the community. As an elected official Trustee of The Poplar Creek Library Board Secretary and on the Finance Committee has prepared me to collaborate with others.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

30 yrs. as a classroom Teacher and as a Literacy Support Teacher. Master of Science in Ed. in Curriculum Instruction and Supervision + 30 hrs. all from Northern IL. Univ. Bachelor Arts in Intermediate Ed. K-9 from Shaw Univ. in Raleigh N.C. I have been a Union Teacher Rep. for 9 yrs., a member of the Schaumburg Ed. Assoc., IL. Ed. Assoc. and National Ed. Assoc. I am a Retired life member of the IL. and National Retired Teachers Assoc. I have served on several educational committees throughout my educational career. Cont. Ed. Univ., coursework colleges, seminars, workshops in (ELL, technology, conflict resolution, literacy training, teaching methods, common core, Charlotte Danielson Model Teacher Bldg. Liaison etc.). I am qualified!

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

I think the greatest challenge will be closing the achievement gap for all our students and making sure that the quality programs are well funded in order to offer the best to our students for college and academic readiness. I acknowledge navigating through funding presents its challenges as I am aware of the impact that property tax increases have on the community.
