Name: Tom Wajda

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Gilberts Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

As a previous elected official and now a private citizen I am concerned that in the last ten years crime is on the rise and the number of police personnel have been decreasing. (Source 2018 Village Annual Financial Audit). In other posted village documents, public road improvements, such as turn lanes, stop lights and the widening of Galligan road near the Gilberts elementary school have been deleted from the previously approved annexation agreement. The safety of the children as well as those picking up and dropping off students is an issue that needs to be addressed.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I was a previous Village trustee 2 terms, previous village president 1 term. Served on the plan commission and police pension board. Was instrumental in the Timber Tails, the Gilberts Town Center and Clublands (now Conservancy) annexation agreements. Organized and work with Village residents to bring the Gilberts Elementary school to the Village. Have attended over 280 village board meeting since I left office.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

If elected I will be working to restore public road improvements to Galligan road near the elementary school. I will also be looking into why, as the village continues to grow, we have not been adding police personnel to keep our neighborhoods safe for our children and residents.

Will you attend the March 13th Gilberts Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
