Name: Scott Kunze

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

East Dundee Trustee

Why are you seeking this position?

Simply put, I love the community in East Dundee and want to put forth my time and effort into making it better than ever. I want to serve our community and be a voice for our families, business owners, and tax payers.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I’ve lived in the Fox Valley area my entire life and in East Dundee for the past 14 years. I’ve sent 5 kids to schools in District 300. We’ve used the charter school, a private school, 3 public schools, and even homeschooled for a short time. I know what struggles families in East Dundee face, and as a Trustee I will be a voice for them. I have argued with board members, fought traffic tickets, and struggled to pay my water bill, just like all my neighbors have. I am naturally inquisitive and skeptical and have a process of making sure all questions are answered by all interested parties before going forth with an idea.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

The challenge any board in East Dundee faces is progressing forth in development and growth while maintaining the village’s historic charm. Nowhere is this challenge more present than in the former Haegar Potteries building. While historic, the building was left to deteriorate for so many years that it may be impossible to get it back up to a viable factory setting. The business that tried to move into the building after Haegar was forced to shut down due to the amount of work it would take to bring the building up to code. I believe that rezoning this property for residential use is the right path forward given it’s location near downtown, on the riverfront and bike path, and in the middle of an existing residential area.

Will you attend the March 12th Dundee Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
