NAME: Nancy Zettler

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Illinois Senate District (33)

1. Why are you seeking this position?

I am running to be the next Illinois State Senator for the 33rd District because the people living in this district have gone without a voice in Springfield for way too long. Instead we have elected people who tell us what they think we want to hear and once elected, become a rubber stamp for corporate special interests and, often, their own pockets. In Springfield I will fight for lower property taxes, affordable college education, strong schools paid for in a way that will not continue to raise our taxes, affordable healthcare and good, well paying jobs. I will not pander to corporate interests that continue to demand that we give them subsidies and incentives while rarely, if ever, paying taxes. I will fight to end corporate welfare.

2. What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I am an attorney with over 25 years experience representing working families against large corporations that choose profits over people every day. I have fought for, and along side, other taxpayers in this district for over a decade to keep the state from handing tax dollars that are meant for the services that we want and need from being given to large corporations just because they demand it. I know how Springfield works because I’ve been there fighting for us already. I want to go to Springfield to fight the status quo from the inside. That is the only way that we will see real change.

3. What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

My greatest challenge will be finding enough like-minded legislators of both parties to work with to make change. The good news is that there are many already there and working hard for us. We just need more.
