NAME: Richard Johnson

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Illinois House District (65)

1. Why are you seeking this position?

I had grown tired of the politicians in Springfield that worked for their interests and not in the interest of the people they represent. Our families, and our community are the priority, not politics. Ensuring that Illinois residents have the healthcare they need, funding our schools so that our children have every opportunity to succeed and fighting for support of our seniors so that they can remain independent is why I chose to run.

2. What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have been a public-school teacher in Elgin U-46 for the past 16 years. I spent the previous 2 years as the President of the Elgin Teachers Association. I am a lifelong resident of Elgin and Kane County. I have spent my entire career working with my community and I will continue to advocate for the people of Illinois.

3. What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Fighting through all the partisan politics in Springfield will be the greatest challenge. When there is gridlock based on partisan politics, it is the people of Illinois that bear the burden. Doing the important work of politics requires that our representatives tackle issues with the best interests of the people in mind. Defining the interests of the people and working together to solve those issues is of utmost importance. I will break through the partisan gridlock to deliver the results that Illinois residents so desperately hope for.

Will you attend the 10/11 Elgin Candidate Forum? Yes, I will attend the forum
