NAME: Michael Noland
POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:
Judge 16th Circuit Court
1. Why are you seeking this position?
I have nearly 20 years handling hundreds of cases in both our civil and criminal courts; I have served as a former assistant Kane County Public Defender; 10 years in the Illinois Senate serving on its Judiciary Committee and chairing its Criminal Law Committee; I helped lead the charge to impeach and convict a former governor; I helped author an amendment to the Illinois Constitution to allow recall of a governor; My name is on nearly all of the ethics and campaign finance reform; I have negotiated and voted on some of the most historic legislation in Illinois including Civil Unions, Marriage Equality and Repealing the Death Penalty. I am tested. At the recommendation of a number of friends and colleagues, two of them judges, and after considerable thought and discussion with my wife and family, and with their support, I agreed to run because I believe I am qualified for it.
2. What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
In addition to my response to question #1, I believe my life experience and the fact that I share those experiences with so many members of our communities makes me uniquely qualified for this position. More on my credentials can be found at my website: noland.org.
3. What will be your greatest challenge if elected?
My greatest challenge will be to work with the chief judge and county board to deliver the needed increase in court services necessary to meet existing and increasing demand for these services in Kane County.
