NAME: Stan Bond
POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:
Kane County Clerk
1. Why are you seeking this position?
The incumbent Kane County Clerk has held this office for 16 years and will be 80 at the end of this term. He has held public office for 24 years and described by many as a career politician. I believe Kane County is deserving of a new perspective and someone with more energy, drive and certainly a more technological background to fill this important public service position. I have owned and led a high technology company for 34 years, I currently work in the Kane County Information Technologies department assigned to the new case management system project in the Kane County 16th Judicial Circuit. I will bring a new atmosphere of ethical behavior to the office and I will work in teamwork and partnership with the public andtheKane County Board
2. What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
I was recruited as a technology consultant to the County Clerk’s office in the summer of 2011. I was offered and accepted a full time position with the County Clerk’s office December of 2011. In January of 2012 I was promoted to Applications Analyst and in September of 2013 I was promoted to Chief Deputy Clerk, second in command, reporting directly to the County Clerk. I was deeply involved in conducting elections, configuring election equipment and systems and my recommendations led to the reduction of outside election vendors to the County Clerk from 5 to 2 saving nearly $200,000 and improving accuracy.
I know I can continue to improve business processes and continue to save money. I will restore ethical behavior to the Clerk’s office.
3. What will be your greatest challenge if elected?
117 precincts in Kane County are unlawully large. 9 precincts are unlawfully small. This has been ignored and must be addressed. The incumbent County Clerk, whose primary job according to state statute is to serve as the official record keeper for the County Board was absent from 9 of the County Board’s 12 meetings in 2017. The incumbent has embraced an insolent attitude toward the County Board, the County Board Chairman and the Public Service Committee to which he reports. Kane County Clerk will be responsible for conducting Aurora elections if the Aurora Election Commission is dissolved. All clerk vendors should be evaluated for cost, performance and necessity. All employee positions should be evaluated for job aptitude and necessity.
