1.  Why are you seeking this position?

Upon retirement, I would like to continue to support the mission of ECC, to improve lives through learning. I am committed to higher education and strive to ensure the highest quality, access for all, and affordability. I support student success and have a collaborative approach. It is up to the board of trustees to ensure fiscal responsibility and support the college. I believe I have the experience and perspective to serve on this body of dedicated professionals.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I served for 16 years as a tenured faculty member at ECC. I have 20+ years of experience in the private sector. I have demonstrated collaboration and leadership in my roles as a former member of the ECC Foundation Board, membership in the Illinois Business Education Association, and was recognized with an award for excellence in teaching. I am a Veteran of the Viet Nam War, having honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

My goal is to ensure that ECC remains an outstanding institution of education. This is accomplished by collaboration with a variety of groups including students, the district 509 community and strategic partners, and ECC’s employee groups. It is important to foster positive relationships and communications amongst these groups. Achieving this is key to addressing any other matters that may arise, including financial issues.
