Name: Billita Jacobsen

Candidate:

Kane County Board District 24

I regret that I will be out of state and unable to attend the Candidates’ Forum February 25.

Why are you seeking this position?

The current Kane County Board has no fiscal restraints and do not serve the public well. For example, they are willing to spend over 100 million dollars to build the Longmeadow Parkway boondoggle toll bridge. The unneeded project would place four lanes of traffic through a public forest preserve and damage property values of everyone who lives along the corridor. Unlike our current representative, I would serve the people, not the special interests.

This same board, who serve as forest preserve members, also think it’s a good idea (it’s not) to have bow hunters in our preserves, killing animals in front of the public who have a right to use our preserves in safety.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

The only experience and background needed for this position is common sense— something lacking in today’s so-called public servants. I am a concerned taxpayer and am tired of seeing our elected officials spend our taxes like it’s magic Monopoly money. Enough is enough.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Obviously, working with the above named public officials to stop the Longmeadow toll bridge and get the bow hunters out of our forest preserves.

Release for publication.
