NAME: Dan Wilbrandt
POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:
State Representative (66th District)
-
Why are you seeking this position?
I am seeking this position to achieve results in Springfield for the residents of this community. While other candidates talk about how great they are, none of them have the deep commitment to the entire district as I do. I will lead by example to make reforms in Springfield a reality because I have both the local experience, problem solving skills, and ability to fight in Springfield. My opponents may think that they are tough when they generate press releases and website posts, but I have worked as a state prosecutor for years and I know how to work to achieve meaningful results. Being a fighter is not about who can yell the loudest, it is about fighting for results. When I talked to residents, they demanded more from their representatives in state and local government. They want to see progress and results, not political games and taxing their way out of problems. The residents do not want another politician in Springfield who is all talk, controlled by special interests, or someone who represents more of the same kind of politics that have gotten our state into the current mess. I am the candidate that residents can trust to give them the leadership they deserve in Springfield because I fight for results, not headlines.

What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?
I am the best candidate because of my temperament, abilities, and deep connections to this entire area. As a lifelong resident of West Dundee in Kane County and a West Dundee Village Trustee I understand the issues of the area. Since the 1860s my family has lived in McHenry County and I still have family in Lake in the Hills, Crystal Lake, and Algonquin. In addition, I have served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in McHenry County for a number of years and have developed first-hand knowledge of the concerns facing McHenry and bow to address these concerns. As a result, I understand the importance of representing the entire district in Springfield, and I have the ability and desire to do just that. Finally, I have a record of not only political accomplishments, but life success in which I have developed a reputation for standing up for others in order to achieve results benefiting our community.

What will be your greatest challenge if elected?
The biggest challenge will be fighting Speaker Madigan. Representatives have no opportunity to have an independent voice for the residents of their communities when they must fall in line with a Speaker who wields such control over the last 32 years. The opportunity for representatives to work together and effectively govern will follow the elimination of this dictatorship. I will fight his control over Illinois and work to pass the reforms the residents so badly need.
