If the federal role in public education is on your interest radar – now is the time to join one or both of the study committees! LWVEA will be joining with the League of Central Kane County to complete this timely and critical consensus process. The Education Study scope focuses on public education from preK through grade 12, with a focus on (sub-committee 1) Common Core Standards, and (sub-committee 2) Funding and Equity Issues.
While the complete timeline and committee meeting schedule has not yet been finalized, the consensus must be approved by our board at the November 16, 2011 meeting to meet the submission date set by LWVUS. On October 19, 2011, 7 p.m. at Batavia Library, Batavia, IL – Ralph Martire from the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability will be presenting on the funding issue for all interested, so mark your calendar now.
