League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area

In the past, the League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area has focused on the following issues:


Support the City of Elgin’s efforts to become a sustainable community

Support the City of Elgin’s efforts to become a sustainable community through:

continued monitoring of the implementation of Elgin Sustainability Master Plan;
monitor the progress of the Elgin Sustainability Committee; and
continue to participate in and support the goals and efforts of the Elgin Community Garden Network.

The Downstate Forest Preserve Act should be amended to prohibit mining in forest preserves, while exempting previous or current mining operations.

2012 – Gravel Mining in the Brunner Forest Preserve of the Kane County Forest Preserve District
