NAME: Victor C. Keegan

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Rutland Township Trustee

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

Obviously, there needs to be changes made in the makeup of the Rutland Township Board. Citizen participation at board meetings has been dwindling for quite some time, almost to the point of non attendance. This is due to certain board members continuing to bicker, adding to a dysfunctional relationship to get business accomplished. Moreover, their clumsy decision-making skills have cost the Township thousands of dollars of tax payer money in lawyer fees and court costs. At a court case in January regarding the election, the judges’ decision was clear as to no merit and the case was thrown out. The judge said let the voters decide who is to be elected. I feel I am the right candidate to become Trustee for the Township.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I was a steelworker for 31 years, and most of those years as an overhead crane operator. I was also elected each and every time to first becoming Department Steward, Grievance Committee Man, Financial Officer, and Local Union President. I learned how to be part of a contract negotiations team and resolve grievance issues with arbitrators. I have the experience and know how to get things done. I will bring Integrity, Honesty, and Common Sense to the Rutland Township Board.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Bringing the citizens together from Gilberts, Hampshire, Huntley, and Pingree Grove to work in harmony in solving unresolved issues and moving forward to ensure good decisions are made in the future.
