NAME: John Payson

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Rutland Township Trustee

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

I am seeking this position again because I take the responsibility of trustee for Rutland Township very seriously. Trustees have a fiduciary responsibility to all the residents of Rutland Township. This includes reviewing all bills received and payments made to vendors. There are currently very limited controls as to how this process is completed today, and the only second look is by trustees like myself that objectively review and question all agenda items.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have been a business owner in the area for the past 20 years and prior to that vice president of the configuration center for Comark Computer Company. I served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1972. I have experience as a trustee on both Pingree Grove Fire Protection District (15 years) and Rutland Township for the past 6 years.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

I have always put all the residents of Rutland Township first when making decisions both with honesty and integrity. The greatest challenge if re-elected, will be to work with the new board to become more transparent, cohesive and efficient.
