POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Gail Borden Public Library District

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

Basically, I’m running to keep good going! Since 2008, with our excellent staff and Board support, we have experienced a 53 % increase in circulation of materials , and a 66% increase in programs. These programs have run the gamut from dinosaurs to classic concerts, and have attracted over 60,000 people.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have a life long interest in working with community organizations. I have served on the boards of The United WAy, The Renz Center, and PADS. I have served two terms on the City of Elgin Planning Commission, followed by two terms on Elgin City Council. Since being elected in 2008 to the Library Board, I have served as Treasurer.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Elgin is a diverse and dynamic community. If re-elected, I will be looking to be aware of the needs of all ages and populations that the Library can fulfill within sensible budgetary constraints.
