NAME: Kenneth J. Schaffer

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Trustee, Dundee Township Board

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

I seek re-election as Trustee for Dundee Township to continue serving township residents. My interest is expanding intergovernmental cooperation and agreements to maximize township resources and reduce costs spent on outside resources. The Ride in Kane transportation service for seniors and disabled residents and multiple Open Space programs are examples of these – working with government entities, schools and non-governmental agencies to benefit all township residents. I look forward to maximizing these efforts and continue with the success Dundee Township has had in these and other areas.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

As current trustee of Dundee Township I am experienced in the steps acquiring Open space property, grant acquisition and restoration programs that benefit Township residents. My Master’s in Business Administration from Benedictine University provides a strong foundation dealing with the ongoing financial and resource challenges presented to the Township. My previous experience participating on local service board agencies provides an ongoing appreciation of the cooperative efforts local agencies and community based programs serving Dundee Township residents.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

Management of the financial resources of Dundee Township while attempting to maintain and/or increasing services to Dundee Township residents. Grant monies previously available are in short supply for desired projects. There are many opportunities to partner with other intergovernmental entities to enhance services that are desired and/or needed while limiting the financial impact on Dundee Township residents.
